Combining Metals Jewellery Workshop

Experiment with combining different metals in this jewellery class in Milton Keynes!

5 hours Class size 1 to 2     label £73
Create beautiful designs using different metal colour combinations.
You’ll discover the following techniques on this full-day workshop suitable for total beginners and those with some experience:
  • Puzzle inlay – use saw piercing to create a design in copper and silver and solder the components together to create earrings
  • Solder inlay – roll textures and patterns in metal and then fill the recesses with solder to create intricate mixed metal designs
  • Lamination inlay – solder thin shapes in copper onto silver sheet and roll through the mill to create a patterned sheet of metal in multiple colours
You can choose to spend some of the session turning your married metal sheets into finished designs or use the time to create sheets to use at a later date.
Materials are in addition to your course fee and will be approximately £5-£30 depending on the metals you choose and the size of your pieces.
Bespoke course dates are available for 1:1, 1:2 or group bookings at Beccy's workshop in Yardley Hastings, your own club venue or home. Suitable for hen parties, special events, birthday celebrations and everything in between.

Hi, I'm Beccy Gillat and I'm passionate about helping you to discover the wonderful world of jewellery making, silversmithing and more!
I run a number of different jewellery making courses in the beautiful village of Yardley Hastings which is conveniently located within easy reach of Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bedford.
There are courses to suit all levels of ability from complete beginners to those with some experience. One off workshops, multi week courses and 1:1 or private group booking all available, so please do get in touch if you have a specific technique you’d like to learn or special piece you would like to make.
I have years of experience and expertise from not only my studies (BA Metalwork and Jewellery making and MA Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery) but also from residential programmes, craft fairs and having my work displayed in art galleries across the world.
The workshop has come a really long way since Yardley Arts first opened 4 years ago. Originally the workshop was set to be a multi-use area and was named the craft room but I slowly took over the space and with my tool addiction and slowly filled the space with lots of kit.
It is a real pleasure to help someone make a piece of jewellery so personal to them that they will wear and treasure for a lifetime. Who knows it might even get passed down to younger family members one day.
