Pattern Drafting and Fitting Workshop: Trousers

Create your own perfectly fitting trousers in this full-day workshop. Join sustainable designer Jen for a fun and inclusive day of learning as we guide you at your own pace through the process of creating your very own trouser block based on your unique measurements. We'll then make a toile to fit test and transfer these adjustments to your patterns.In this welcoming and supportive environment, you'll learn the fundamentals of pattern drafting, from taking accurate measurements to translating them into a custom trouser pattern. Jen will be by your side every step of the way, offering personalised guidance and expert tips to ensure your pattern fits like a dream.Come as you are, bring your enthusiasm, and leave with the skills and knowledge to create trousers that are uniquely yours.Join us for a day of creativity, camaraderie, and the joy of perfectly fitting trousers. Your wardrobe will thank you!The day will be split into 3 parts:

• 10am - 1pm: draft your trouser block and prepare for making a toile.
• 1pm - 2pm: break for lunch. You are welcome to bring lunch (there is a fridge, microwave, and kettle available to use) or there are a large choice of cafes on Easter Road, a 2-minute walk away! Tea, coffee, and sweet snacks will be provided. You will be welcome to stay in the studio for lunch and/or return to continue your patterns at any time.
• 2pm - 6pm: making a fitting sample and adjustments. Transferring your block to card. If time allows, we'll also briefly look at drafting pockets, a fly front and design adaptions.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

Experience using commercial patterns will be the perfect starting point for this class. Students should also know how to use a sewing machine. If you're a beginner, come to the Beginner Sewing Workshop and/or Sustainable Sewing Course first to build up your skills in these areas!

• Paper, card and specialised tools needed to make your block and patterns
• Use of the studio's sewing machines
• Fabric for making toiles / fit samples of your patterns
• Expert help fitting your trousers
• Reference notes to take home on what we covered in class

Nothing is needed. If you would prefer to take your measurements at home, bring a note of these.You're also welcome to bring your own sewing machine if preferred, but there will be machines available to use in the studio.
